Fight Against was founded in 2020 in Jacksonville Florida, during ”Covid” by a diverse group of professionals who all had a stake in the recovery movement. Some were Entrepreneurs, some were medical professionals and some have dealt with addictions on a personal level. All wanted to help demonstrate that people can, and do, recover from addictions, and that those who do come from all walks of life.
It’s an important message, as some people believe that people who have addictions are simply doomed to lose their lives to the use and abuse of substances. Others believe that addictions only target certain types of people and that not everyone could fall prey to the use of drugs. These are the sorts of myths that can keep addicted people trapped in their habits, and these are the biases that can keep families wrapped in a mantle of shame that prevents forward movement.
Fight Against is committed to helping those who struggle with drug addiction, we created an organization whose ambitious mission is to end addiction. By assisting with resources, setting measurable goals for reducing the number of people addicted to drugs and alcohol, reducing drug and alcohol-related deaths, and reducing the societal costs of addiction. Fight Against is working to educate people about addiction, coordinate care, provide valuable resources, and address gaps in funding and additional resources for treating the disease of addiction through its many advocacy efforts.
Unlike other nonprofit groups that focus exclusively on addiction or substance abuse prevention, Fight Against is dedicated to those who deal with a variety of difficulties, including these:
Fight Against has done a significant amount of work in spreading the message of hope and recovery, by educating, connecting, and inspiring. We are currently working with producer Tony Monell with Mastermind Multimedia, on a doc-u-series of number of well-known public figures and individuals who discuss their private stories about addiction and recovery.
We have launched a new campaign in Duval County in partnership with other community organizers to engage and mobilize the newly emerging concerns and needs, to transform public attitudes and policies affecting people seeking or in recovery from addiction to alcohol and other drugs. Whether behind the scenes or on the front line, every recovery voice is needed.
Though its initiatives are indeed ambitious in nature
like our “Street Team Project” individual donations of any size are always welcome.
